A journey through Italy\u2019s wonders to discover one\u2019s origins and rediscover the places, traditions and culture of the ancestors. The\u00a0Italea<\/strong>\u00a0project has started,\u00a0inviting Italians nationals living abroad and those with an Italian background to discover the places and traditions of their origins<\/strong>. The project provides a set of tourist services \u2013 routes, workshops, perks, discounts \u2013 to facilitate travel in Italy, thanks to the work of a deep network of professionals who will take care of informing, welcoming and assisting travellers<\/strong>\u00a0in every region of Italy. All information is available on the website dedicated to the project\u00a0italea.com<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>which offers support in every step of the rediscovery journey: from historical-family research to organizing the personalized experience in Italy. The program also offers a series of roots workshops, activities that allow to deepen the knowledge of the culture of origin, and therefore linked to ancient crafts, traditional cuisine, popular music and dance, dialects.<\/p>\n Italea<\/strong>\u00a0is aimed at both those who already know their Italian origins and those who have yet to discover them, who can rely on a\u00a0network of expert genealogists<\/strong>\u00a0who will help trace and reconstruct their family history.<\/p>\n 2024 is the\u00a0Year of Italian roots in the world<\/strong>, dedicated to welcoming those with an Italian background in their territories of origin with local events and initiatives, and presents itself as the ideal time for a trip to the Belpaese. Awaiting guests are events and initiatives organized by more than 800 municipalities throughout the country.<\/p>\n Through the\u00a0Italea Card<\/strong>\u00a0loyalty program you will be able to obtain any kind of\u00a0discounts, benefits and services\u00a0<\/strong>by the businesses participating in the program. These can be accommodation facilities, restaurants, wineries, craft shops, transport companies, car rentals and many other activities that allow the “roots traveller” to live an unforgettable experience.<\/p>\n In addition to strengthening the bond with Italian communities abroad,\u00a0Italea<\/strong>\u00a0aims to promote\u00a0a model of sustainable, responsible and accessible tourism<\/strong>, to promote small municipalities and all those areas which, both in the past and today, suffer from depopulation due to migratory flows.<\/p>\n Italea<\/strong>\u00a0is the\u00a0promotional program of the “roots tourism”<\/strong>, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation within the PNRR project and financed by NextGenerationEU for the period 2022-2025. The name Italea derives from \u201ctalea\u201d<\/strong>, a practice by which a plant is allowed to reproduce and multiply. By cutting a part of it and replanting it, it can be given new life, by growing new roots: just as it happens with migrations.
