PASSPORT FEE AND PAYMENT METHODS<\/h4>\n<p>The passport fee, regardless of its validity (3, 5, or 10 years), is EUR 116,00, to be paid <strong>exclusively in Canadian dollars<\/strong>. The corresponding CAD amount is published in the \u201cConsular Fees Table\u201d on our website (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>). The Vancouver Passport Office accepts both cash (please bring the exact amount) and money orders\/bank drafts made payable to \u201cConsulate General of Italy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>2. PASSPORT ISSUANCE AND TIMING<\/h4>\n<p>Barring unforeseen technical problems, the passport is issued on the same day as the appointment. It is also possible to have it sent via a prepaid Canada Post XpressPost, FedEx, or Purolator envelope to the address of your choice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>3. PASSPORT FOR ADULTS<\/h4>\n<p>Those residing in BC and Yukon must request a passport appointment using the <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prenot@mi<\/a> portal.<\/p>\n<p>Given the long waiting times, it is strongly recommended to book your appointment well in advance of your passport\u2019s expiration date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The booking process is completely free; there is no fee for using the <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prenot@mi<\/a> system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The booking calendar allows you to book appointments up to 3 months in advance. New appointment slots become available several times throughout the week. You can book appointments for more than one person using the \u201cMultiple Booking\u201d option.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICANTS WHO ARE OVER 70<\/strong> and who are unable to access the Prenot@mi portal may submit their request via email, attaching their valid ID, to <a href=\"mailto:passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it<\/a>, \u00a0or also via fax (604 685 4263).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>4. WHAT TO BRING ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT<\/h4>\n<p>On the day of the appointment, each applicant (including every individual member of the same family) must present their own documentation, accompanied by the required photocopies. It is really important that the whole documentation is prepared in advance; please follow the instructions on this web page.<\/p>\n<p>Documents to present:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>passport Application Form for adults<\/strong>, fully completed and signed in original (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li><strong>1 colour photograph<\/strong>, Canadian passport format, with forehead and temples clearly visible (<a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/istruzioni_foto_passaporti.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rules for valid photographs<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li><strong>valid ID with photocopy<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>previous Italian passport<\/strong>, even if expired; in case of loss or theft, a copy (or the file number) of the police report is also required;<\/li>\n<li><strong>consular fee for the passport<\/strong>, payable in cash (preferably the exact amount; for the current fee, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> &gt; Consular Fees Table &gt; \u201cPassport Issuance\u201d); payment may also be made by money order \/ bank draft made out to \u201cConsulate General of Italy\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Barring unforeseen technical issues, the passport will be issued on the same day as your appointment. If you prefer to have your passport sent to your home, you may also bring a small <strong>prepaid Xpress envelope<\/strong> or another traceable courier service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE: <\/strong>If your application is incomplete on the day of the appointment, the passport request will be rejected and you will need to book a new appointment on the <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prenot@mi<\/a> portal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>5. PASSPORTS FOR MINORS<\/h4>\n<p>The procedure for booking an appointment is the same as that described above for adults, with the sole exception that, at the time of booking, the parent must specify in the \u201cNotes\u201d field of the <a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prenot@mi<\/a> platform the names of the minor\/s for whom the appointment is being requested. Minors are not permitted to open an account on Prenot@mi in their own name.<\/p>\n<p>A parent wishing to book a single appointment for themselves, their spouse, and\/or one or more minor children must select the \u201cMultiple Booking\u201d option, enter their own information as the Applicant and that of the other family members as \u201cadditional applicants,\u201d always specifying in the \u201cNotes\u201d field for which individuals the appointment is being requested.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>WHAT TO BRING ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>passport <strong>Application Form for minors<\/strong> (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>), completed by both parents. If you prefer to have the passport sent to your home, you may also bring a small-sized <strong>prepaid Xpress envelope<\/strong> or another traceable courier service.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>WHO MUST ATTEND THE APPOINTMENT<\/h5>\n<p>To issue a passport to a minor, the consent of both parents is required, even if they are unmarried, separated, or divorced.<\/p>\n<p>On the day of the appointment, the minor must be accompanied at least by one parent.<\/p>\n<p>If one of the parents (both of whom are EU citizens) cannot be present, they must sign the original passport application form. The parent who will be present will need to bring the form to the Consulate on the day of the appointment.<\/p>\n<p>If, however, the absent parent is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not an EU citizen<\/span>, they must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sign the <strong>consent form<\/strong> (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li>have their signature on the form authenticated by the Consulate General (prior to the passport appointment) or by a notary\/lawyer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The notary may be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a notary or lawyer registered with our Consulate (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> &gt; Travel Documents &gt; \u201cList of Notaries and Lawyers\u201d); in this case, the Apostille is not required. However, the amount specified in Article 69 of the Table of Consular Fees on the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> must be added to the total amount to be paid on the day of the appointment;<\/li>\n<li>a notary or lawyer not included on the above-mentioned list; in this case, an Apostille is required &#8212; further information is available in our website\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/traduzione-e-legalizzazione-dei-documenti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> page on Apostille<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The original <strong>consent form<\/strong> must be brought on the day of the appointment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Consent form if a parent is outside the Consular district<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An Italian parent or a parent who is a citizen of the European Union and is located outside the consular district may sign the consent form separately and send it to the Consulate, including via email, along with a copy of their valid EU passport.<\/p>\n<p>A non-EU parent may sign the consent form in the presence of an official from the Italian authorities (the Police Headquarters if in Italy, or the Consular Office if abroad).<\/p>\n<p>In the event of the death of one of the parents, a copy of the death certificate needs to be submitted.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Case in which one of the parents refuses to sign the consent form<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the other parent refuses to grant consent, it will be necessary to file a petition with the Guardianship Judge. The Consul General in Vancouver acts as the Guardianship Judge for minors residing in or registered within the jurisdiction of this Consulate General. For information, please send an email to the passport office of the Consulate (<a href=\"mailto:passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>CHILDREN UNDER 12<\/h5>\n<p>Fingerprints are not required for children under 12 years of age. However, the child must still be identified.<\/p>\n<p>Parents may also submit a passport application by mail without scheduling an appointment. In this case, they also have to include an <strong>authenticated photograph of the minor child<\/strong>. This authentication may be obtained:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>at the Consulate General, without the need for an Apostille;<\/li>\n<li>from a notary or lawyer registered with our Consulate (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> &gt; Travel Documents &gt; \u201cList of Notaries and Lawyers\u201d), in which case an Apostille legalization is not required;<\/li>\n<li>from a notary or lawyer not included in our list, in which case the Apostille is required (more information is available in our website\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/traduzione-e-legalizzazione-dei-documenti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> page on Apostille<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The parents should then send by mail to the Vancouver Office:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the <strong>passport application form for minors<\/strong> (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>), signed in ink by both parents along with their valid ID;<\/li>\n<li>if one of the parents is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not a EU citizen<\/span>, they need to complete and sign the <strong>consent form<\/strong> (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>) and have their signature authenticated by a notary\/lawyer or by the Consulate General, following the procedures described above for the photo&#8217;s authentication;<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>child\u2019s photo, authenticated by the Notary<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>two additional recent colour photos of the minor<\/strong> (taken within the last 3 months), Canadian-passport format, with forehead and temples clearly visible and with very good lighting on the face; one of the photos must be stapled to the passport application form (top right, \u201cFor official use\u201d box); one of the parents must sign below the photo;<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>minor\u2019s previous Italian passport<\/strong>, if still valid; in case of a first issuance, another piece of valid ID (e.g., Canadian passport);<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>money order\/bank draft<\/strong> made payable to \u201cConsulate General of Italy\u201d for the amount specified in the Table of Consular Fees on the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> (Art. 27); if a notary or lawyer from our list was used for the consent form and\/or the certified photograph of the minor, add the amount indicated in Art. 69 to this total;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>prepaid Xpress envelope<\/strong>, or another traceable courier service, which will be used to return the passport to you;<\/li>\n<li>the completed and signed <strong>Passport Shipping Authorization form<\/strong> (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Barring unforeseen technical issues, the passport will be issued within two weeks from the date the documentation is received by the Vancouver office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>CERTIFICATE OF ACCOMPANIMENT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 14 TRAVELLING WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS<\/h5>\n<p>Children over the age of 14 may travel unaccompanied by their parents without any additional documents other than a valid passport, in countries where a visa is not required.<\/p>\n<p>For Italian citizens under the age of <strong>14 travelling alone or who are not accompanied by at least one parent<\/strong>, a certificate of accompaniment for minors is needed. The request may be submitted by completing and signing the \u201cAccompaniment Declaration\u201d form (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>), and by sending it via email to <a href=\"mailto:pass.vancouver@esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pass.vancouver@esteri.it<\/a> along with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>copies of the parents\u2019 passports<\/li>\n<li>a copy of the minor(s)\u2019 passport(s)<\/li>\n<li>a copy of the accompanying adult(s)\u2019 passport(s)<\/li>\n<li>copies of the airline tickets for those traveling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For information on minors travelling on a Canadian passport, please consult the relevant Canadian government website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>6. APPLICATION FOR A PASSPORT IN CASES OF PROVEN URGENCY<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Please do not purchase airline tickets or other travel documents before ensuring that you have a valid passport with an expiring date allowing you to complete your trip. Possession of a travel document is NOT sufficient to demonstrate urgency.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only in cases of absolute and documented urgency (sudden need for citizens residing in our consular district to travel for serious personal\/family reasons or pressing work obligations) it is possible to request a passport through the emergency procedure by sending an email to <a href=\"mailto:passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Such an urgency shall be justified by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>serious health conditions<\/strong> of a family member not in Canada, supported by a medical certificate and along with a letter from the applicant explaining the reasons behind the request for an urgent procedure;<\/li>\n<li><strong>serious family reasons<\/strong>: in this case, a detailed application from the applicant will be required, accompanied by supporting documentation;<\/li>\n<li><strong>urgent work needs<\/strong>, proven by a detailed, motivated request on the employer\u2019s letterhead, possibly accompanied by supporting documentation (e.g., registrations for international conferences, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the urgency request is accepted, the related fees listed in the Consular Fees Table on the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> (art. 74) will apply, and the passport will be issued within 24 hours from receipt of all the documentation normally required (in addition to the documents justifying the urgency).<\/p>\n<p>The urgent procedure is normally granted only to the applicant, not to family members or acquaintances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Only citizens registered with AIRE at our Consulate can request the issuance of an urgent passport.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>7. LOST OR STOLEN PASSPORT \/ EU ETD<\/h4>\n<h5>PROCEDURE FOR RESIDENTS WITHIN THE CONSULAR DISTRIC AND REGISTERED WITH AIRE<\/h5>\n<p>In the event of a lost or stolen passport, you must file a <strong>report<\/strong> with the local police.<\/p>\n<p>After doing so, you may apply for a new passport by following the same instructions provided at the top of this page, and by attaching via email what follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>a copy of the police report<\/strong>; if a hard copy is not available, the file number of the Police Report;<\/li>\n<li>if possible, a copy of the lost\/stolen passport (or at least its number and date of issue);<\/li>\n<li><strong>copy of valid photo ID<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>statement<\/strong> regarding the loss or theft of the passport (see the <strong>Report form<\/strong> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>PROCEDURE FOR NON-RESIDENTS IN THE CONSULAR DISTRICT (EU ETD)<\/h5>\n<p>If an Italian citizen who is only temporarily present in our consular district has their passport stolen or lost, they must file a report with the local police.<\/p>\n<p>They should then send an email to the Consulate General (<a href=\"mailto:passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passaporti.vancouver@esteri.it<\/a>) in order to request an appointment for the issuance of the EU ETD by attaching:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EU ETD application form<\/strong> (see <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a> )<\/li>\n<li>copy of the <strong>police report<\/strong>, or the Police Report file number;<\/li>\n<li>if possible,<strong> copy<\/strong> of the lost\/stolen passport (or at least its number and date of issue);<\/li>\n<li><strong>flight reservation<\/strong> for return to Italy or their country of residence, indicating any border crossings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the appointment, they also need to bring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the original <strong>application form<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>valid photo ID<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>two recent (max 6 months), good-quality colour <strong>photographs<\/strong>, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, on a white background.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The document only allows to return to the country of residence and is valid for a single trip, normally with a validity of three days. The issuance of the EU ETD is currently free of charge for the user. However, it may be subject to payment of the applicable consular fee (see Table of Consular Fees on the <a href=\"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/modulistica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forms page<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">IMPORTANT<\/span>: Mandatory Return of the Document<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival at the destination, the holder of the EU ETD <strong>must surrender the document to border police or another police station, regardless of its remaining validity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the holder of an EU ETD issued by a consular office travels to a country other than Italy, they must return the document to the Italian consular office with territorial jurisdiction over the destination.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Last update: 2026\/04\/30<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"NOTE: All the FORMS mentioned on this page are available on the Forms section. 1.
