{"id":4393,"date":"2025-07-03T13:26:22","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T20:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/?page_id=4393"},"modified":"2025-07-03T13:25:55","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T20:25:55","slug":"recognition-of-citizenship-under-special-laws","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consvancouver.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/cittadinanza\/recognition-of-citizenship-under-special-laws\/","title":{"rendered":"Recognition of citizenship under special laws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"39\" data-end=\"285\"><strong data-start=\"39\" data-end=\"75\">Law no. 379 of December 14, 2000<\/strong> provides for the recognition of Italian citizenship in favor of individuals born and residing in the territories of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire and their descendants who meet the necessary requirements.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"287\" data-end=\"361\">The deadline to apply under Law 379\/2000 expired on <strong data-start=\"339\" data-end=\"360\">December 19, 2010<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"363\" data-end=\"555\"><strong data-start=\"363\" data-end=\"395\">Law no. 124 of March 8, 2006<\/strong> provides for the recognition of Italian citizenship for compatriots who lost it due to having resided between 1940 and 1947 in <strong data-start=\"523\" data-end=\"554\">Istria, Fiume, and Dalmatia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"952\">The recognition of Italian citizenship based on special laws constitutes an acquisition <strong data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"666\">by benefit of law<\/strong>. Therefore, a parent recognized under such provisions <strong data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"731\">cannot<\/strong> make a declaration of intent to acquire citizenship on behalf of a minor child as provided under <strong data-start=\"829\" data-end=\"879\">Article 4, paragraph 1-bis, of Law no. 91\/1992<\/strong>, since the recognized parent is <strong data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"919\">not<\/strong> an Italian citizen <strong data-start=\"939\" data-end=\"951\">by birth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"952\"><em>Last update: 2025\/07\/03<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Law no. 379 of December 14, 2000 provides for the recognition of Italian citizenship in favor of individuals born and residing in the territories of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire and their descendants who meet the necessary requirements.
