International Short Film Day 2017

December 21 is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere – this is why it was chosen to celebrate short films worldwide. The first edition was organized by the Centre National de la Cinématographie et de l’Image Animée in France in 2011. It has rapidly spread throughout Europe and beyond, and today takes place in 50 countries around the world.

The aim is to offer a showcase of short films to the general public, to people who are not festival goers or do not have access to specialized programs. The Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio (the Italian Short Film Centre) proposes a program of recent Italian shorts of various genres and on different formats, offering an overview of where young Italian filmmakers are heading and what the trends of tomorrow will be.

Of the five short films that will be screened – varying in length from 14 to 20 minutes, some are funny, some are lyrical, some are dramatic, all are engaging.

In Italian with English subtitles. Some scenes may be disturbing to some viewers.

This event is organized by the Consulate General of Italy in collaboration with the Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio and the Italian Cultural Centre.
