Education Office

The Education Office of the Consulate General in Vancouver is operated by qualified personnel of the Ministry of Education of Italy, seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy; this office is in charge of supporting the implementation of the diffusion of Italian language and culture among Italian-Canadian individuals and associations, as well as the promotion of the teaching of Italian as a foreign language in Western Canadian schools. The Education Office offers information and advice on enrolment in Italian schools and universities, and issues the Declarations of Equal Value ("Dichiarazioni di valore") for qualifications earned in schools and universities within this consular jurisdictions, which are needed for recognition in Italy of study credits earned abroad.

The following documentation is required in order to attend school in Italy, at the compulsory level (i.e. Grades 1 through 10):
- Official translation of the Certified Copy of Registration of Birth - long form, 8"x 14" - of the applicant student ( issued by the Registrar General ), provided by the Vital Statistics Office of this Consulate General (this service is free for Italian citizens).
- Updated immunization record, verified, signed and stamped by the family doctor or pediatrician, and also stamped by the Health Department of the municipality where the applicant student resides.
- Final report card of the most recent full school year attended by the student, bearing the original signature of the school's principal and complete with its translation in Italian: the Consulate General will use this document to issue the Declaration of Value.
